# Get Started

Rig is **free to use** and needs **no account**. Rig is a CLI and MCP your agent will use while coding.

**Scans run on your computer.** Rig does not upload code for remote scanning. Your coding agent’s own data settings still apply.

## 1. Install Rig and connect your agent

Download Rig:

```sh
curl -fsSL https://downloads.rig.ai/install.sh | sh
```

Then add Rig to your agent:

### Claude Code

```sh
claude plugin marketplace add RigCodeAI/rig
claude plugin install rig@rig
```

### Codex

```sh
codex plugin marketplace add RigCodeAI/rig
codex plugin add rig@rig
```

Open your project in a fresh agent session.

## 2. Set up your project

In your project, ask your agent:

```text
Set up Rig for this project.
```

Your agent helps choose security checks for your project. Review and approve the proposed setup before continuing.

## 3. Start coding

Ask your agent to build or change something as usual. If Rig reports a security problem, your agent will be automatically be instructed to fix it and rerun the check. You'll see a security report in your agent's turn summary.
